Our SFB-TRR 161 Doctoral Retreat 2025

In May 2025, our doctoral students gathered for their annual retreat. Their destination: The Humboldt Haus Achberg near Lake Constance.

From April 10 to 12, 2024, our doctoral students gathered at Burg Rothenfels for their annual doctoral retreat. In a relaxed atmosphere, they discussed their research and ideas for collaborations. The doctoral retreat this year was held from April 10

From June 30 to July 1, 2022, the SFB-TRR 161 doctoral retreat took place at Lake Constance. It was an excellent opportunity to bring together the PhD students from Konstanz and Stuttgart.

The second instance of the doctoral retreat took – again – place at the Waldhotel Zollernblick in the beautiful Black Forest from the 4th to 6th of September. The goal of the retreat was to discuss research and collaboration within the SFB-TRR 161 in a relaxed atmosphere.

This year the retreat of the SFB Graduate School had to take place as a video conference because of the pandemic restrictions of the COVID crisis.

As in the previous years, the third instance of the SFB-TRR 161 doctoral retreat took place in the middle of the black forest, at the Waldhotel Zollernblick in Freudenstadt, from April 4 to 6, 2018. Besides the goal of getting in touch with each other, the focus in this retreat was on the exploration of possible collaborations for the second funding period.

The doctoral retreat 2016 was held at the Waldhotel Zollernblick from 18th to 20th of July. We, the PhD students from SFB-TRR 161, would like to thank everybody who made it possible to discuss our research and collaboration in a relaxed atmosphere.

On April 2 and April 3, 2025, Mikael Laaksoharju (Uppsala University) visited us in Stuttgart and gave a research seminar on research ethics and ethics of technology, sparking many enlightening discussions.
